Petra's Classic Chocolate Brownie

Brownies are a beloved dessert that are so special because of their unique texture and rich, chocolatey flavor. They are not quite a cake, not quite a cookie, and not quite a fudgy bar, but rather a delicious combination of all three. The crisp exterior and slightly gooey interior create a texture that is both satisfying and indulgent. Brownies are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed on their own, with a scoop of ice cream, or topped with whipped cream and fresh berries. Here is my simple brownie recipe. If you made it let me know!

Ingredients:

  • 113g unsalted butter, melted

  • 200g granulated sugar

  • 60g all-purpose flour

  • 50g unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • *Additionals see notes at bottom.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar.

  3. Add in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and stir until well combined.

  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, and continue stirring until the batter is smooth and glossy.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.

  7. Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  8. Dust with powdered sugar if desire.

Additional: Add nuts, chocolate chips or cookie crumbs into the batter or sprinkle on top before baking.

Enjoy your delicious homemade brownies!
